Tom O'Halleran is a former Republican member of the Arizona Senate, who represented the 1st District from 2007 to 2009. He was unseated by primary challenger Steve Pierce during the 2008 election cycle. Prior to that, he served in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2001 through 2006. In 2014 he resigned from the republican party citing the parties inability to address issues such as education, water and child-welfare. Then, he stood for election in the 1st District as an Independent candidate for the Arizona Senate, but lost by 3%.〔http://ballotpedia.org/Tom_O%27Halleran〕 He now hosts a radio show on Thursday mornings on KAZM in Sedona, and is a strong advocate for securing a National Scenic Area for the Sedona Red Rocks. Furthermore, as of August 6, 2015, he announced his campaign in Congressional District 1 as a Democratic Candidate for the United States House of Representatives.
